Friends of Disabled Veterans is a 501(c3) non-profit organization located in the Tri-Cities(Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland) Washington state.
Founder and CEO, Brian is a veteran that served our country for 20 years. Co-founder, Cleve worked and served in the local community all his life. Cleve is now retired and focuses his time and energy showing our veterans his great appreciation for their service by helping with this organization. They're also proud of the fact that no board member or volunteer will EVER receive any compensation for their work with this non-profit.
With such a high suicide rate amongst our veterans, as well as the struggles of PTSD and the difficulty of reassimilating into everyday life, we want to help these service men and women know that we apprciate them and care enough to offer an outlet through friendship, fellowship, and activities with fellow servicemen/women and others that genuinely care.
The purpose of Friends of Disabled Veterans is to offer a place where disabled veterans and their families can have a place to go where people appreciate and respect what they've been through. The goal is to help them feel completely accepted and included in a fun, relaxing environment, This getaway will be a place where they get spoiled and participate in numerous outdoor/indoor activities. These activities include but are not limited to camping, horseback riding, indoor/outdoor gatherings, shooting at the archery, pistol and rifle ranges. All of which will be designed specifically for ADA compliance and at NO COST!!
Our program also takes disabled verterans with a family member or friend on local hunts. We have acquired private land access to hunting with landowners that want to give back to our disabled veterans that have given so much for us!! Our members have helped create/design unique scissor lifts on trailers that our veterans can reach up to 20 feet in the air to view the surrounding area for their hunt.
Currently, we do not have a location for our veterans to get away specifically designed with these needs in mind. The last 8 months our members /volunteers have worked hard to raise the money needed to purchase the much-needed acreage here in Eastern Washington to fulfill this dream.
Our Plan:
-2017-purchase property
-Establish a campground and gathering spot
-10 spots for RV/Trailer parking
-Horse Stables
-ADA compliant bathroom facility archery, rifle, and pistol range
-Acquire more private access hunting land
-Build an event and gathering lodge/facility
