Hauwa is a vibrant 26 year old with huge dreams of one day changing the world. A passionate writer who never shies away from addressing issues that the rest of us aren't brave enough to speak up on.
July 2018 began the debilitating journey of Hauwa's illness. A day out with family turned mournful when she had to be rushed to the hospital after sudden loss of function on the right side of her body.
5 months later and several emergency room visits in 2 different countries, she was diagnosed with a Left Middle Cerebral Aneurysm and a Brain Haematoma.
This is basically a balloon-like bulge inside the brain that if not treated can rupture and lead to a stroke of which 40% never survive and those that do might never recover completely. Hers has already started leaking and depositing blood inside the skull causing excruciating headaches and seizures.
On most days Hauwa can not even get out of bed in the morning, she's riddled with overall bodily pains, fever, dizziness and nausea that doesn't allow her eat until lunch time and tremors that make it impossible for her to so much as open the door sometimes. She has lost her voice on several occasions and her eyesight is gradually going. Sometimes she walks with a limp due to swollen and painful knees.
For Hauwa each day is so unpredictable she fears waking up to new challenges. Her once active life has now been reduced to constant pain and hospital visits. The danger of her aneurysm bursting has prompted doctors to refrain her from taking painkillers, so she goes through everyday on nothing but faith.
The delicate procedure she requires (Endovascular Coiling) is not available in her native country Nigeria, so we solicit your help to raise enough funds to afford her the much needed treatment in the UK. Time is of the essence as there is a high probability of rupture at any time.
