On October 9, our friend Sam was diagnosed with cancer. Squamous cell carcinoma to be exact (throat cancer). The news was as shocking and unnerving as you can imagine.
The good news is that Sam’s cancer is curable. The challenging news is that to win this fight — Sam will need our emotional support… as well as any financial help we can give…
When we asked Sam to set up a GoFundme page, his first response was “no.” As he proudly put it, “I’m the one to help other people… and I don’t want to be a burden.”
As we had to remind Sam: “People love you — and you’re robbing them of a blessing if you don’t let them help…So are you going to let them show their care and concern for you?”
Through some tears — Sam got the message!
Beating cancer ain’t cheap. Besides the emotional toll — there are bills that need to be paid:
Medical co-pays and every day bills and expenses will be daunting. Sam is going to miss months of work during this fight. That’s why we’re asking you to help out.
A donation of even $10 or $20 will lift a huge burden. If you can afford $40 — that would cover a chemo treatment for Sam. A donation of $100 covers his biopsies. But whatever you can give is a great blessing — and a great help to Sam.

In The Interest of Full Disclosure: Sam and I have known each other since we were 8 years old. As Sam puts it, we're "brothers from another mother." The money you donate is swept into a bank account controlled by me. I then cut a check (or withdraw cash) to give to either Sam or his wife Lorie. Thanks in advance for your help!
