Freedom for Josiah

Josiah would LOVE an adaptive bike. This boy is in constant motion, always seeking sensory experiences involving movement. At age 11 he was still trying to squish his much too large body into an infant carrier on the back of his moms bike, just so he could ride. Josiah is so passionate about riding a bike he would push open the double garage door by himself. Then he’d attempt to climb up into the too tiny seat. For a long time, Josiah rode with his mom up front and him in the infant carrier, his knees hitting his mom and her legs hitting him with each rotation of the pedals. He didn't care. When Josiah gets revved up; when his energy level is through the roof; when he is so wired that he can’t sit still, he needs an outlet. It has always amazed his mom that Josiah understands that. He seeks a release. He is 14 now. The infant seat isn’t a viable option for him. An adaptive bike would allow Josiah to expend excess energy doing something he loves. It would allow for a calmer, more relaxed sensory system which in turn would go a long way towards ensuring a great night’s sleep.
