Free Family Portrait ROAD TRIP
This year he's going to be 11, and I'm going to lose him soon. Girls are coming; he's smart and beautiful and he can’t wait to conquer the world.
I want to remember this moment with him, and I want to capture a moment for as many of you as I can too.
I've devised a project.
I want to do a book of America 2017 Family Portraits:
we would like to meet and photograph as many 'American Families' as possible on our trip across the country. We will be stopping and many different places on our trip and updating the entire way, if you are close to any of our stops, Please, come meet us and have your family photographed FREE OF CHARGE!
This book of family portraits telling their story through images and interviews will be published and shared with the world.
I honestly believe this is supposed to be my next big thing. It's truly full circle. I want to share this with my son and my family and with all of your families too.
Where Your Donations Go:
- Food & lodging for cross-country round-trip (economy accommodations)
- Gas, tolls, laundry on the road
- Go Fund Me fees (for processing pledges) - Approximately 7.9% of total
- Free Family Portraits for EVERYONE we visit on our trip, (sitting fee, plus 2 complimentary digital images: 1 print size and 1 websized)
Whether you can help a little or a lot, it is appreciated. If you choose to give anonymously, that’s ok, but if you leave your email, I will be offering some small incentives. I will randomly choose emails of donors who will receive an autographed copy of one of my previously published books. If we reach or exceed the goal for this project, I'll pick one person at random for each $100 over the goal to receive an autographed copy of this project once complete. This is not a lottery or an auction, but simply my way of saying thank you for your generosity.
Everyone who donates publicly, even one dollar, will be thanked by name on the "thank you" page of the book when published.
Everyone who donates will receive updates and behind the scenes photos of this adventure.
I hope to share this book and all our pictures and stories from the road with you soon~

Thank you for your consideration!
San Diego tonight and tomorrow!
This trip has been so amazing, I totally think it's the best idea I've ever come up with.
Today we're going to Santa Monica to complete our rt66 tour at the pier and to swim in the Pacific Ocean. Then we're driving down to San Diego to shoot the last of our family portraits and spend the last couple days of our trip seeing the places I used to live when I was in the navy.
Thank you all so much for following along and supporting us along the way.
You already know some of my story because of the project that we worked on with Mike but don't know if you knew or remembered that I adopted my Sarah. That was back in 84 so in some ways I guess you'd say I was a pioneer to surrogacy. I also have a friend who as the most beautiful biracial family, Mel who is black had one son Jamel when he met the love of his life Toni who is white, together they had Lillie who is now 3 and will steal your heart away. Mel went from a guy doing time to a devoted and committed hard working family man in the last few years. Their story would make a great addition to your book. I also know a gay gentleman who adopted the cutest set of twins. I would love to be part of or be able to help with your project. I know lots of folks who have unconventional families.
