Recently Fred suffered a seizure and an MRI revealed a large tumour on the front of his brain. Less than 12 hours later he had emergency surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible and surgeons we able to remove about 60% without causing major trauma to the brain. The tumour is an agressive type, with 100% recurrence rate. This means further surgeries and treatments are almost certain, and Fred will face a life long battle.
Due to missing work and having to pay for expensive complimentary treatments that are not covered by health plans Fred will be faced with a large financial burden. To help alleviate the burden as much as we can we decided to raise funds to help Fred in his fight using this page along with a fundraiser called "Shred for Fred" that we are organizing on February 7th at Springhill. For those who don't know Fred here is his story. Fred is just 25 years old. He was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Birds Hill. He attended Birds Hill Elementary and Miles Mac High School where he was a studios, yet well rounded student. Fred went on to attend Red River College where he obtained a diploma in Greenspace Management.
Fred loves nature, plants, and looking after the earth. He is an incredibly hard worker and always willing to lend a hand to a friend. During the summers he works with Lawn Stylists maintaining high end properties and installing new landscapes. He also recently started his own business called Sustainable Organic Solutions, a company that uses all natural approach to taking toxins out of our soils to create healthier landscapes.
In the winter Fred works at Springhill. He is an avid snowboarder and has worked in or helped out in every department. Currently he works helping to build and maintain the terrain park and operating the groomer.
Fred loves his family and friends and feels extremly fortunate for all the people he has met along the way. This has been a tough hit for him, but he is not ready to go down without a fight.
This fundraiser means alot. It means alot to Fred, but it also means alot to his family and close friends. Those of us who know Fred know that he is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and he would literally give his kidney to you if you needed it. We all care about him alot and want to do what we can to help him out.
