During the 2017 season, Decatur Robotics team 4026, and our awesome robot, “Southpaw” progressed through two qualifier competitions and went on to the Peachtree State Championship where we fought fiercely to uphold our State Champion title. We fell short of title, narrowly losing a close quarterfinal match.

Despite this loss, we won the Innovation in Control Award at all three competitions, including the State Championship. The Innovation in Control award recognizes a robot that uses sensors and clever programming to more effectively complete the challenge at hand.

Our 2017 team has shown time and time again that they can surpass expectations and overcome obstacles with ingenuity, strategy, and teamwork.

We need YOUR help to prepare the team for the upcoming 2018 season, where we will start from scratch and build a completely new robot for the unknown challenge ahead. We hope to regain our State Champion title for the third time in our six year history.

We’ve achieved so much with the support of our sponsors: General Electric, AT&T, Johnson Research and Development, Decatur Education Foundation (DEF), Big Nerd Ranch, the DHS PTSA, and our wonderful mentors Ken Craig, Jeremy Roberts, Mike Yarnold, and Aaron Hillegass. To take it to the next level, we now need the help of our community.

Thank you in advance for your generous support. All gifts are helpful and welcome. Your contributions will go through the Decatur Education Foundation for use by the team to cover costs. DEF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so your donations are tax deductible and your employer might be willing to match your donation.
