Hey there! You might know me as Francesca, 'Frankie', or 'Kim' if we're related :)
Either way, I'd like to share some news with you: I'm heading to Germany to pursue an Interaction Designer Internship at a fashion + tech company in Munich!
G E R M A N Y! (I've never been! Or to Europe for that matter...)
I'm really excited to start this journey that will allow me to continue my career and explore a new and foreign country, but I need your help...
As a student, I am extremely limited with my funds. I hope that you can help me raise $2500 for my flight ticket to Munich as well as my food, grocery, transportation, and housing needs for the first month of my 6-month internship.
If you didn't know this about me, I've been an immigrant in the United States for 15 years. After I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree, I found it very difficult to find jobs that would sponsor my work visa here. I've exhausted my own funds to apply for it in 2015 and unfortunately did not make it to the H1B lottery. This was a huge setback as I lost the ability to work and pay for my rent, bills, and daily needs on my own. Going to Germany for this internship means a lot to me because this opportunity would be a stepping stone to continue working & to pursue my dreams in a new country. It's going to be the start of an awesome adventure!
I anticipate to leave within or around 4-8 weeks from now (that's how long my German residency permit would take to get approved) and I hope to reach this goal by mid-November 2016.
