The Fountain City Brass Band will return to the UK in 2017!
As reigning U.S. Open Brass Band champions the FCBB has been invited to take part in the world's foremost brass band entertainment competition; Brass in Concert. The lineup for this year's Brass in Concert is arguably the strongest field in history and the FCBB is proud to serve as the representative from the United States. In addition to participating in the Brass in Concert competition, the FCBB will present a concert tour and take part in the Scottish Open Brass Band Championships in Perth, Scotland. The appearance at the Scottish Open will be the band's first appearance at this event since 2009 when they became the first American band ever, and the first non-UK band in over fifty years, to win a major brass band competition on UK soil.
The Fountain City Brass Band, founded in 2002, is an all volunteer thirty piece brass and percussion ensemble that is based in Kansas City and draws its membership from around the United States. Members of the FCBB pay their own way to and from Kansas City for rehearsals and all of their expenses on trips. The cost per band member is just over $2,000, before food and luggage, for this tour in particular. These dedicated members not only give up money to take part in what they all feel is an incredible musical experience, but they give up time away from family and work to do so.
