For the Love of Bets

Hello everybody, my name is Carmen Kelley; I am raising funds for one of the most loving human beings I have been blessed with in my life. I met Bets 45yrs ago when we worked together at Griswold's in Claremont Cali as a young woman. Bets was going to College at Pitzer and I was a young mother and wife to a local police officer. Bets and I have been through many hardships, divorce, loss of our parents and also many joys in life. She has loved and always been there for my daughter. She went on to work in a Marketing Management and me in Law Enforcement.

Bets suffered a heart attack in 2012, when she recovered , she had lost the function of her kidneys. She attends dialysis three times a week for a period of three hours. Prior to her heart attack, Bets had spent the previous five yrs caring for her sick elderly mother until her death in 2010. She has been able to take care of herself with the help of her love Randy. In December of 2016, Bets was again hospitalized, due to complications from her dialysis. Bets had her left leg amputated to her knee and the toes on her right foot amputated. The exorbitant medical bills are not all covered by her insuruance. They have Bets in danger of having to leave this facility, if the bills not covered by her insurance are not paid.

Upon release from current facility she will be able to relocate to Texas, where her sister and Randy will care for her. Bets will also need to pay for the cost of her prosthesis; we are hoping to raise enough funds to pay her hospital bills for the next five months, her prosthesis and transportation to Texas. I will keep you posted on her recovery and let you know when she finally makes it to Texas. Thank You and God Bless. We are hoping to raise twenty thousand dollars. If after all the cost are paid and any funds remain they will be donated to Our Wounded Veterans. They inspire us and have given Bets the motivation to know that she too will walk again.
