Recovering after Thyroid Cancer

My sister recently underwent surgery to remove her entire thyroid and left side of the lymph nodes due to stage 2 thyroid cancer. As the day progressed, the surgery took longer than anticipated. She was on the operating table for 9 whole hours when it was only supposed to be maximum 4-5 hours. The doctors operating on her found various tumors around her lymph nodes and neck. There was even an unexpected vocal chord nerve wrapped around a tumor which had to be removed. This is what caused the surgery to go on longer. The doctors then made a decision to stop the surgery after 9 hours after successfully removing the problem area so she can rest and recover. She will still need to go in for another surgery to remove her right side of the thyroid for a complete removal and successful surgery , InshaaAllaah.
Due to the extent of her surgery, the length she was on the operating table, and the positioning she had to be in to successfully remove everything, Montaha has gotten severe nerve and muscle damage on her shoulders and arm. Thyroid cancer patients usually leave the next day after surgery. However, in Montaha's case, she was in the hospital for 5 days because of the damage to her shoulders and arms.
To make her recovery easier at home and comfortable, I want to purchase an adjustable mattress so she can comfortably position and adjust herself as she recovers. This will also be great as she undergoes surgery again in the next month. Her current mattress will only exasperate the issue and cause further damage.
