A wheelchair van for Matthew and Joshua Forrest!!

My name is Julie Forrest and I am a single mother of two beautiful boys. Matthew is 14, and Joshua is 12. They have a very rare genetic disorder called Lowe Syndrome  (http://lowesyndrome.org) They were born with cataracts, kidney disease, low muscle tone and seizures.  The boys have many doctors and specialists appointments and as a single mother it is up to me to transport them to these appointments to keep them as healthy as I can. Our current accessible van is on it's last legs and the repair costs are continuing to grow. Even if I could afford to keep fixing our current van, it no longer meets our needs. Matthew has always been wheelchair bound, but now my younger son Joshua has been diagnosed with osteoporosis, is losing his mobility, and spends much more time in his chair. As he has aged he has obviously also gotten quite a bit bigger. To date, when both the boys need to be transported I have to wheel Matthew out to the van, load him in and then go back to get Joshua, wheel him out, take him out of his chair, lift him up in to the van, put him in his seat, take apart his wheelchair so that I can lift it up, and put it in to the back of my van. Then we reverse the process when we arrive at our appointment. Accessible vehicles are much more expensive than a regular vehicle and an accessible van that can accommodate 2 wheelchairs is even more. Having two severely disabled boys I am unable to work outside of the home. My income is limited, divorce has ruined my credit and I simply cannot afford to purchase a new/used, reliable, accessible van that meets our growing needs.  We desperately need a reliable accessible vehicle that can accommodate two wheelchairs.
