Not everyone has two cents to rub together. Books For Blessings takes books in new condition, sells them online and gives the proceeds away. In fact, we give it all away except for $0.35 per book sold. This leaves us with very little finances to cover our needs. Right now we are not a non-profit. Since we give our money away, except for what we need to use to for shipping material, we really don't have a path forward to growing this ministry without a lift up.
Being a 501c3 would allow us to
1) accept cash donations while increasing our book program at a greater level and be able to provide tax donation letters to the generous donors.
2) receive discounts on postage and supply and equipment purchasing.
The influx of cash will let us better serve the community and continue with our financial blessings and emergency home repair initiatives in the surrounding communities. We would also be able to use the donations to hire people and continue to do our part to expand our local economy.
Books For Blessings is a hard concept to get around. We take books that no one wants and sell them, turning them into financial blessings for those who need it most. Whether it's emergency funds for keeping the power on, home rehab, medical needs, or simply helping to fund other faith based non-profits, God is showing us the hurt in the world and laying people right in our path.
We will not step around them.
To put things into perspective, if properly setup, we could easily ship 300 or more orders per day, given the inventory. Each book we sell on average brings in $5 for our beneficiaries.

This is a huge ask for us but we can't get to where we need to be without some help from kind hearted people. If you have questions, we beleive in full transparency so engage with us and help us hit our goal.
