At the School for Global Leaders, we all refer to each other as "SGL Fam". This school is more of a family than a school community. Our entire family is saddened while trying to deal with the loss of one of our family members, 8th grader Bria Santiago.
Bria was a renaissance kid. She was a star student, an athlete, a dancer, a fierce and loving friend. While our school family is devastated, her parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives' grief could not even be imagined.
In lieu of all of the typical "remembrance" hashtags, the family has asked people to use the tag #FOREVERBRIA, so that her memory and legacy lives on forever. They are asking for privacy and respect, while they process this horrific loss and grieve in their own way.
The SGL Fam has never been a group to sit around - we take action, we mobilize, and we do what we can to help our own. We are asking for your kindness, especially as the holidays approach, to support Bria's family and help ease the burden of the costs for putting their daughter to rest.

The outpouring of support thus far has been unbelievable! Our SGL Fam is so touched by the generosity and kindness that so many people have shown in such a short amount of time.
