OUR STORY. Indian Rivers Humane Society has been rescuing, spay/neutering, and adopting animals for 27 years. Last year alone we did 593 spay neuters and found homes for 94 animals at risk for euthanasia. IRHS is an all volunteer, non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization. The mission of IRHS is to improve the animal welfare by ensuring the humane care and treatment of animals in King William, Essex and King & Queen County. WHY WE NEED HELP NOW. For the last 5 years we have been running our own thrift shop in West Point, VA to help raise the dollars we need to sustain our adoption and spay neuter programs.
The building we had been renting is past its prime and the decision was made to purchase our own building instead of continuing to pay rent. After a long search we found a building in a good location just a short distance from where we have been but it needed some work. A new HVAC system headed the list as we have hot summers and cold winters.
WE NEED YOU TO HELP. In order to pay the expenses for installing a new HVAC system, we had to borrow monies from our spay/neuter funds. We now need to replenish those funds in order to continue our work in saving lives by spaying and neutering.
