Greetings to you all.
My name is Jess and I need your help.
I took my best friend, Tom Hiddlescat, to the emergency vet tonight after he began showing signs of pain and distress earlier on in the evening. After her initial exam, the vet informed me that Tom most likely had an obstruction in his urethra that was preventing him from being able to pass urine. After checking some blood values and establishing that he would have a decent prognosis, it was decided that they would go ahead and sedate Tom so they can insert a catheter to clear the blockage and express his bladder. As of 1:30am, I am still awaiting the emergency vet’s call so I can pick him up and bring him home.
The original estimate I was presented with quoted a figure just over $1700. I was expecting a large bill, but the amount still took my breath away for a sec. I am presently trying to get my car fixed (a working vehicle is a requirement for my job) and this couldn’t have happened at a less convenient time. But of course, no one can control these things and all I care about is getting my kitty better and bringing him home.
I made some sacrifices on his care to get the cost down some. I am appealing to all of you for any help you are able to give.
There are a thousand other people and causes more deserving than me, but I’m going to swallow my pride and hope for the best.
