For the Couple Who Gives Back to the Community

Donation protected
Will and Vanessa Deering have both given themselves to serve their community, now it’s our turn to help them. Will has served his community as a police officer and Vanessa has worked as a RN in numerous departments.  Vanessa just finished her schooling and passed her state boards to become a Nurse Practitioner. When life seemed to be looking great for them, a curve ball was thrown their way.

Vanessa was admitted to the hospital on Thursday, June 27th with a retinal migraine that was causing intermittent vision loss, and persistent nausea and vomiting, and severe left temporal/eye pain. While trying to treat the migraine with medication, Vanessa had a reaction to the medication which caused damage to her heart and liver and her heart rate decreased to the 30-40s.

During the testing for the migraines, she had MRIs, CTs, lumbar punctures, and multiple labs to rule out other possible causes for the symptoms. On Friday, July 5th, Vanessa and Will learned she tested positive for Multiple Sclerosis. She will need to spend a minimum of 5 days in the hospital during the initial stage of treatment. Because of the damage to her heart, she may be facing having a pacemaker placed in the near future.

Will and Vanessa met shortly after graduating high school and now have 3 beautiful children. As you can understand, now is a difficult time for this amazing family. Vanessa has missed a significant amount of work and will continue to be unable to work for an undetermined amount of time.  Will has missed multiple days at work being by his wife’s side and caring for their children. Providing for the family, paying medical expenses, paying student loan debts, and normal every day living expenses on solely a police officer’s salary will be financially difficult.

If you are able, this family who has given so much of themselves to our community needs your support. Any donations, large or small, will help. If you are unable to help financially, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. They need all the prayers they can get during this season of their life.

Vanessa and Will have stayed strong in their faith and continue to trust that God will see them through this storm.

A meal train has also been setup. If you would like to provide a meal for Will and the children, click on the link to sign up for a day (or several).

From Vanessa:
”This diagnosis is just that - a diagnosis. All things work for the greater good. This is good. My patients will benefit from this new life chapter I am beginning. My spiritual journey will become that much stronger. My children will witness the unconditional love that their parents have for each other. ALL GOOD.

Please continue to keep my husband and kids in your prayers. They thought I would go for a quick test last Thursday and be right back home and it has been extremely difficult on them. Please pray for my medical team because these people have been in the trenches with me day and night and I know their hearts go home heavy when I’m not improving. They are fighting my battles with me every step of the way.

I speak victory in Jesus name. MS you are no match for my God. Please continue to pray for my family. This diagnosis impacts not only myself but them. We have some speed bumps coming up but will get through them with His grace.

One step at a time.

One breath at a time.

One praise at a time.

One victory at a time.

One tear at a time.

A wise person told me that God doesn’t always quiet the storm but can quiet the child in the storm. Please quiet my soul Lord. Quiet the worry. Quiet the feelings of possibly becoming a burden to my family. Quiet Satan in Jesus name.”
