Our mom…

Mom was a five time cancer survivor who passed away on Sunday November 5th, 2017. She had such a big heart that she endured many detrimental experimental treatments for cancer because if it meant that one day, someone else could be spared from what she had gone through, it was more than worth it to her. While her body suffered so much that there was literally nothing left undamaged to give, and as was her nature, still wanting to give more, she kept her name on the national donor registry list. It was very common to find her giving more than she had.  Her love to do that will hopefully continue to shine through a sparkle in her beautiful brown eyes that she donated because someone else could still use them. She gave everything that she could.

Our mom was well known for her generosity and her lost talent for crocheting cute little animals, baby blankets and anything someone told her about in passing. She would make them and just give them away. She enjoyed loved seeing the look on their face.  The smiles of joy in thanks meant everything to her.  To anyone who has one, they know just how special they are. I remember at a Down Syndrome charity event for her grandson, that out of all the nice and valuable prizes, it was her cute little stuffed animals that people nearly fought for… literally!

By The Way, to the person who got that little frog…If you’re reading this, I would still trade you for it J

Our mom worked hard for many years getting up very early to deliver newspapers every day. She cleaned toilets for many years in office buildings, and I know we all can appreciate a clean one! Many have said that they enjoyed her presence at the local slider joint, Greene’s, where she worked for many years as well. Those were the good old days because I know firsthand that the burgers she made always had that certain something special about it and anyone who ever tasted one knew it too. Maybe it was also the warm smile she gave along with the fresh hot coffee, or the conversations she had with you.

Our mom served others at every opportunity that presented itself and I hope through this page we can collectively serve her back one final time by helping to provide for her a place of rest.

Last year our mom was diagnosed with “chemo -brain” because of all the years of chemo that she had endured. It was the risk of the experimental trials she took with a helping heart. She would forget things and wander a little bit but it was her sense of humor about it that made it entertaining. We’re not sure if that contributed in part to our discovery that while she thought she had put a safety net in place for this time, things did work out as she had planned. The life insurance policy she thought she had, doesn’t cover her passing in this manner. I can understand how an insurance company would not want to take the risk of a 5 time cancer survivor who lived through cancer in 19 different places of her body.  I also know it is pretty hard to touch the heart of an insurance company, or even make their day with the little things that can change everything. But I do know she has done just that for most everyone that has known her. And those who have had the pleasure of having known her, know that she was a woman with more heart than means and that’s why we’re creating this page.  Those who were touched by her can now have an opportunity to be a part of saying “Thank You” by donating to her proper burial and final resting place.  Please help us ensure she gets this.

The typical cost of a casket, funeral services and cemetery plot can far exceed the humble accommodations she would have liked. We found her a place in a cemetery that is frequently visited by deer with big brown eyes as were hers and it couldn’t be more fitting for someone who loved having them visit the apple tree in her own yard. Knowing this is where she would be happy to be, we have only until Friday to make this happen. So please help us reach our goal of $9932.00 to cover the funeral, burial and the go fund me fees. If she has blessed your life and in return you choose to give back in remembering hers, should this amount be surpassed it will be used to give her a fitting headstone and then to support her favorite charities, which are Down Syndrome and the American Cancer Society.  We are also asking, that in lieu of flowers, please donate to her fund.

Any amount is greatly appreciated.

We thank you tremendously, from the bottom of our hearts and we know that if she was still with us, she would thank you too.

Would you please help us make this happen for her Today?
