For Ben and Penny

Due to the injury yesterday, Penny will lose her leg this afternoon. While sad, the recovery process is surprisingly fast. Ben hopes to have Penny home tonight. PayPal stands at $130 currently, I will personally be adding $100 on behalf of myself and Alyssa prior to transferring everything to Ben. Today, the most genuine person I know, had the unthinkable happen.
Anyone who knows Ben, knows his German Shepard Penny. She accompanies Ben to nearly every jobsite, and is somewhat of a company mascot for Wilder Excavating. For over two years, Penny and Ben have spent 99% of their lives together.
Today Penny was roaming around Ben's garage, as she frequently does, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. As a UPS truck was approaching, Penny was near the road, but well in view of the driver. At the last second, as the truck was passing slowly, Penny backed away from one of the people on the side of the road, and into the path of the UPS truck. The truck subsequently ran over her right front leg, completely skinning her paw. As of right now the veterinarian has given Ben two choices, wait about 2 months, taking Penny each day for new bandages in hope's that the skin grows back, and she regains use, or, option 2, is to amputate the leg.
I cannot over emphasize how much Penny is like a child to Ben. I cannot imagine having to make this decision. This would be hard for any pet owner, but I can't even imagine for one like Ben who literally spends every day with his dog.
In light of this situation, Jason Walter suggested we get a fund together to help ease the burden financially.
