Baby had a liver transplant, financial help needed

Donation protected
The Bailen Family has had many adversities & trials. Starting with the loss of their Father/Grandfather, a daughter being diagnosed with autism, to their latest trial that involves their son that at the age of 8 months had liver failure and was in need of a liver transplant. It was Sunday, February 3, 2019, when Stephen Salvador A. Bailen mother noticed that the color of her 8-month old’s eyes had turned yellow, subsequently, his entire body turned yellow. His parents took Stephen to Connecticut Children’s Hospital, where a series of tests were done. Stephen was diagnosed with liver failure and needed a liver transplant to survive. His parents felt as if their world collapsed and questioned how this could happen. On February 6th, Stephen was transferred to Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, which is located 40 minutes away from home, where there was a transplant specialist for children. Another series of diagnostics was done and confirmed the liver failure and needed a liver transplant. Stephen’s parents did not waste any time. They reached out to their family and friends and even social media seeking a compatible donor. They got about 40 people to be tested to donate a portion of their liver to this precious baby. The transplant doctors were amazed at the love shown for this baby, but even so baby Stephen continued to deteriorate and unfortunately, no one was a match. The family never lost hope and we showered Baby Stephen with prayers and love. On February 10th, Sunday, Stephen's Father was on his way back to Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital when a voice keep telling him to go to church first. The father, that was already 7 minutes away from the hospital decided to turn around and drive back to St Mary's Church in Newington where he sings choir with. After mass and saying hi and hello to friends, while walking towards the doors of the church he received a phone call and our prayers were answered and a match was found! The successful transplant was performed the next day. Unfortunately, baby Stephen remains at the hospital and based on biopsies and blood work, results show signs of liver rejection. Despite everything he’s been through he remains all smiles. Due to baby Stephen's condition and vulnerability to getting sick, the parents are taking extra measures to prevent this from happening. Repairs where made at home to eliminate molds and other bacteria's. Flowers where taken out of the house and every corner cleaned. After additional  treatment for rejection, Baby Stephen is currently getting better based on latest blood work despite that a few numbers elevated, the doctors were not too concerned as of now. He will continue to have his weekly checkups and blood work. The Bailen family, because of these unending  trials find themselves at a financial crisis. With only one working parent that is also in need of a knee and back surgery in the future due to pain cause by a medial meniscal tear and back pain cause by L5-S1 radiculopathy, also takes care of their daughter who is on the autism spectrum. The father, Stephen Sr who is the sole breadwinner had taken some time off to take care of the family, back and forth travels to the hospital and other conditions like inability to work due to the pain and stress of his underlying conditions. Your generous donations will go towards paying off debt that accumulated from back and forth travels and other expense while baby stephen was admitted in the hospital and at the Ronald Mcdonald house, and also weekly doctor visits. Other funds would go to paying off the areas that had to be fix at home to prevent baby stephen from getting sick from other factors like molds. These areas where inspected and advise to be repaired as soon as possible. The rest of the expenses will go towards other expenses that the baby and family will need. The Bailen Family's faith in God is Stronger than ever and is hopeful for brighter days to come. We are extending our love and prayers and asking for financial help for the family. Every donation helps. Thank you in advance and God Bless you and your families.
