For Alisha Key, Victoria's Living Donor

October 29, 2019.......The day Alisha Key saved our daughter's life.

On May 16, 2018 our daughter, Victoria Frazier, was diagnosed with END STAGE KIDNEY FAILURE. She was 18 years old. Prior to this diagnosis she had been a healthy, active teenager, even competing in track and field for her middle and high school teams. 

Over the course of a year and a half Victoria began dialysis and was placed on a kidney transplant list. Her wait on the list was estimated at 8 years and as her health declined we realized a living donor was her only hope. She had lost all residual kidney function and was on peritoneal dialysis 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

Enter the Key Family.  Alisha, her husband Dan, and her children Tyler, Carington, and Landry. Our daughters were close friends on and off the field when they ran track together. Our families met cheering on our girls from the sidelines.  We moved away after only a few years, but our daughters kept in touch. When Victoria told them about her kidney failure, Alisha didn't hesitate to "share her spare". Her family supported her 100%. After a very long year of evaluations, Alisha was approved as Victoria's life saving donor. 

As you can imagine, words cannot begin to describe the immeasurable joy we all felt when we got that phone call!!!!

It's been 5 weeks since the transplant surgery. Victoria has a rosy glow and a sparkle in her eyes like we haven't seen in years. She is getting to resume "her life". Alisha is doing great as well. Recovery has been tough, but Alisha keeps a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She keeps telling Victoria "It's temporary discomfort".

This selfless act of sacrifice has changed our lives forever. It has given our daughter the chance to resume her life. It has given our family the long awaited opportunity to breathe a sigh of relief. We are at a loss of words when trying to express our immense gratitude to this family.  This was a decision they made together, and it was one that was referred to by them multiple times as a "no brainer." 

We would like to help Alisha and her family recover the out of pocket expenses they have incurred in their journey to help Victoria. The money raised will cover only their travel expenses, lodging, and loss of wages incurred. Anything raised in addition, will be donated to the National Kidney Foundation.
