For a USMC veteran and his young family

For my nephew, a USMC veteran of Afghanistan and his young family


After graduating from High School my nephew fulfilled the commitment that he had felt growing within him for the past 10 years and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  His parents, as any parent can imagine, feared for his safety but were filled with the pride that so many American families share.  Their fears grew as he was deployed to Afghanistan but with God’s grace, training from the Corps and undoubtedly some measure of luck he returned home safely to his young wife and completed his enlistment.



They moved to Florida and began to raise and support a young family.  He has two beautiful sons, 4 years and 9 months and works hard to be a good husband, father and man.




On Sunday April 21st, while riding his motorcycle my nephew was struck, by a car.  He was rushed to the hospital and put into a medically induced coma. He has several broken bones, head injuries and internal injuries but by God’s grace he has been responsive, to of all things, his father’s voice and the comfort of his wife by his side the whole time since the accident.  The doctor’s have brought him out of the coma and each day he is improving. Each day provides its own small miracles. His family is with him as much as they can be (he needs calm and rest) and he has our prayers.

I have never launched a Go Fund me page before and I am not sure how this will be distributed, who might see it or how people will respond.  While my nephew has a level of medical insurance he does not have the means for his long term recovery and he is the sole financial support for his young family.  I, along with my family, am trying to raise money that will be accessed only by his wife to help her to pay their immediate household bills and to prepare for the long term financial effects that his loss of work will cause.  Our goal is $25,000.



I realize that the fact that I have not included any names in this request is probably unusual. For personal reasons and to respect the family's wishes I have refrained from including names.  Family and friends who see this will know either from direct contact with me, or by knowing me as a person that I would not enter into this process fraudulently. Strangers who may see this, assuming it goes “viral” may be skeptical.  I understand this. But rather than burden our family with negative thoughts please just say a prayer. For anyone who sees this and contributes, thank you on my behalf and on the behalf of our family. If it is not within your means to contribute please just take a moment to lift up a prayer or a good thought on our behalf.


Finally, for anyone who might see this and know who my nephew is we ask that you not comment or in anyway use his name or his family’s names.  If you have questions you can message me on Facebook and I will do all I can to answer them.
