FND Friends Charity Abseil
Donation protected
FND FrieNDs have just opened the first office/ drop in centre in England and Wales for people suffering with Functional Neurological Disorders plus their Carers and families. We need to fundraise in order not only to keep that running but also to allow us to hold regular craft and activity days, hold meet ups throughout the SouthWest and do home visits for housebound people.
There are around 3 million adults and children suffering with FND in the UK with approximately 300,000 in the SouthWest of England making this a fairly common but rarely heard of or understood condition. Many people suffering with this debilitating and disabling condition which mimics other Neurological conditions such as MS, epilepsy, Parkinson’s, stroke, and so on suffer with isolation leading to depression, anxiety, financial difficulties as no longer able to work and a lack of confidence spiralling into deeper isolation and exacerbating the physical illness too. There is very little aftercare available on the NHS post diagnosis, which is where we step in with our information packs, an understanding ear, reassurance, signposts for practical help etc.
We are also also hoping to raise money to be able to purchase a wheelchair adapted minibus to be able to take service users out and about, helping them to get back out into the community plus giving the Carers a few hours of much needed respite. Rick Pointon, Tom Clark, Joel Clark and Leanne Couchman will be doing the abseil so come along to support them at 10am that day.
Many thanks for your much appreciated contribution. For any further information please go to our website, fndfriends.org
