Fly on a Wall - The Hive Project

"Their movement invention is ever mesmerizing; Fly on the Wall is a rarified and welcome voice in the community." - ArtsATL

Who we are.

Fly on a Wall thrives on artists of all backgrounds coming together to create art that lives at the junction of wit, risk, and meaningful experiences. Their work shifts audiences perspectives by creating an interface of artistic mediums that is guided by a strong theatrical sensibility and an extensive movement vocabulary. Since their inception in 2014 Fly on a Wall has created a body of work that includes multimedia performances, installations, dance films, performance experiments, and performative structures. They have been presented by Dashboard, the Alliance Theatre, Art on the Atlanta Beltline, Synchronicity Theatre, Eyedrum Art and Music Gallery, the City of Duluth, and the Marietta Performing Arts Center. They have offered community classes for dancers and non-dancers alike, and have been recognized as Distinguished Fellows by the Fulton County Arts Council with a scholarship to the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences. Most recently they received a 2016 Idea Capital Grant and a residency at Eyedrum Art and Music Gallery.

Why we are raising funds.

Fly on a Wall has been selected to be a part of the Hive Project at Colony Square created by The Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences.

"For three months this spring, The Hambidge Center will re-imagine Atlanta’s bustling city center into a creative enclave of working studios, installations and experimental projects. With a major renovation planned later in the year, Colony Square has partnered with the Hambidge Center to provide inspired artists and thinkers a unique opportunity to explore and share their work."

All funds that are generated will go towards production elements for the development of new work and compensation for invited guest artists to work with Fly on a Wall inside of the Hive Project.

Why we do what we do!

Shifting perspectives is important to Fly on a Wall and we believe that by looking at anything from multiple perspectives we change our understanding of the world around us. This manifests as collaboration , rich experiences, and the production of fresh work. Fly on a wall is writing a new chapter in how dance and theater are mirroring what is happening in our community and around the world. They are in the center of a creative and imaginative expression that is manifesting into a platform that is about now; about what matters. It is the new edge.

Fly on a Wall is non-profit organization that is run by it's founders Nicole Johnson, Nathan Griswold, and Sean Nguyen-Hilton.
