For the first time in 27 years, the FSU Sailing Team has qualified for the Intercollegiate Sailing Association Co-ed National Semifinals at Old Dominion University! We are one of the top 36 teams in the nation that have qualified for this event; the top 18 teams will advance to the finals. We are competing in Norfolk, VA May 29-30, then the finals are May 31 and June 1st.  We are asking for donations to help with the travel cost to Norfolk and practice costs leading up to the event. We are planning to practice in St. Petersburg with USF and Eckerd for a week in May.

The FSU Sailing Club was founded in 1963, and we have been helping FSU students experience sailing ever since. Our organization focuses on competitive and recreational sailing. The FSU Sailing Team is a part of our organization for our members who wish to be involved in competitive sailboat racing. Our team competes throughout the country during the Fall and Spring semesters. We participate in College Sailing regattas in the Co-Ed, Women’s, Laser, and Offshore divisions. In the past year, we have traveled as far as Maryland for the St. Mary's Interconference Regatta and have attending all South Points regattas in our SAISA conference.

The Florida State Reservation is where we hold practices and other club activities. This year, due to budget cuts, the Reservation is closed Monday-Wednesday. This means that we are only able to practice Thursday's instead of the regular Monday, Wednesday practice schedule. This has hurt our ablilty to prepare for upcoming regattas and will continue to hold us back as we make an effort to travel to competitive regattas. The only way to have another day of practice during the week would be paying $50 for a two hour practice so the Reservation can have their lifeguards on duty. Looking forward to the Spring semester, we are hoping that we will have enough money raised to afford more practice days.

FSU Sailing greatly appreciates all contributions and will use donations to continue growing the program. Your donation will be used to provide better equipment for the club and team, pay for travel to regattas including Co-ed Nationals, and pay for practice at the Reservation.
