The Rotary Club of Griffith University, is hosting a Gala dinner in support of FLOAT.
FLOAT is a non-for profit project started by a group of honours college students, its aim is to develop a swim safety culture in the Philippines by assisting in the training of swim teachers and lifeguards.
Becuase the Philippines experiences some of the highest drowning rates in the world and as a country made up of islands, swim safety is imperative. The program they have designed and implement aims to teach the lifeguards to a point where they can then train others, initiating a self-sustaining model.
All funds raised at the gala dinner and through crowdsourcing will go to sending trainers and equipment over to the Philippines in support of this fantastic project.
