Clean Water For Flint

My name is Jessica Dalessandro and I am a 28 year old resident of  Streetsville, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. I am trying to raise money to make a difference in Flint, Michigan by providing clean water to the residents on a regular basis.

This project initially came about after I posted on Facebook that I would be making the drive down to Flint on February 16th to donate as many cases of water as my little Honda HRV could carry. Within just that short week my friends and family (along with a high school basketball team in Detroit) had contributed enough money (and cases of water) so that we were able to drop off over 1700 bottles on Tuesday. After seeing the dire conditions in Flint, and how desperate the town is for clean water, I have decided that one trip is not enough.

With help from friends, family, and people like YOU, I hope to be making the trip every other Tuesday for as long as the people of Flint need us. My next trip is scheduled on March 1st, and this time we're going bigger and better! I will be driving from Mississauga to Sarnia, where I will be picking up a uHual truck and purchasing as much water as possible before crossing the border at Port Huron.

I have registered as a volunteer with the American Red Cross to ensure I am able to drop off the water at legitimate facilities (registering also increases my personal safety). These locations are non-denominational and not faith based, and give cases of water directly to the people of Flint for free, no questions asked. I have acquired a corporate sponsor, eShipper, who has agreed to pay for my truck rental for the next three trips! That means more water per trip for Flint!
