Fletcher's Story

Fletcher Fato is 6 months old and the second child of two loving parents, Adam and Joanna Fato. He has an older brother, Brooks that is 2 1/2 years old.

Up until yesterday, they were your typical family of four but their lives were turned upside down on Monday, July 21, 2016. The doctors discovered an inoperable brain tumor that will require chemotherapy and other treatments at Shands Childrens Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

Below is exerpts from Joanna's Facebook page. We ask you to remember the family in your prayers everyday. If you are capable, we ask that you consider donating to this fund to help with travel, food, and everyday expenses to assist the Fato's. We also ask that you share and promote this page so we can all lift the financial worry from their minds.

Thank you for helping our friends!

We figured that we should post and let everyone know the news we received today because we know prayer can move mountains. We noticed a little over a week ago that our precious little Fletcher had an eye twitch in his left eye. We notified the pediatrician and were seen by an ophthalmologist and a neurologist that both agreed that he had congenital nystagmus. We were told that this wasn't a very big deal but that he may just need glasses when he is older. We were also told that we needed to do an MRI to rule out any neurological problem of which they highly doubted was the problem. Today was our MRI and we were informed that our beautiful baby boy has a brain tumor. We are in complete shock. We were sent straight to Shands where we are admitted to the pediatric floor. There will be another MRI tonight and probable brain surgery tomorrow. We need everyone to please please pray that this tumor is not cancerous. We are absolutely terrified and really need some prayer warriors on our side. Thank you all for your love and support.

Today as you all can imagine today has been very difficult. So last night we were in MRI until about 3 am and was taken from there to the pediatric icu. This morning we met with the pediatric neurosurgeon. Unfortunately according to the new brain scans the tumor was found to be inoperable. Fletcher has been in surgery since 1:30 where they are retrieving a sample of the tumor to know exactly what we are dealing with. The neurosurgeon has just informed us that the procedure is over and they are thinking this is in fact a cancerous mass. Although we are upset by this news we were also told that they think the tumor is "low grade" and treatable with chemotherapy. We will be meeting with one of the best pediatric neuro oncologist in the world tomorrow. We are trying very hard to stay positive and want to ask for continued prayers for this precious baby. The outpouring support has been so touching and we feel so loved by everyone.....so keep the love and prayers coming. This is a picture from this morning after Fletcher bath.....just wanted to show everyone how happy he is and how much of a little fighter that we all know he is. Will post another update after our sweet boy gets back to the pediatric ICU.
