First ever school trip for Cambodian children

Rural area children in the capital
                                           -School Trip to Phnom Penh-

Growing up and going to school in Germany, I enjoyed many school trips with my former classmates. And it seemed completely evident that my school, as every school in Germany is organizing school trips for each of their classes. And thinking back I made of one my best memories of my school time in one of the many excursions.

Unfortunately in Cambodia most students visiting public schools never had the chance to go on a school trip with their class as this is a luxury only private schools can afford.

Fortunately though you can change this for our lucky students from CYA Learning Center in the rural area of the Kampot Province in Cambodia with your donation!

About Us

Our Learning Center was established in 2014 in Kampot Province by the non-profit NGO “Cambodian Youth Action (CYA)” as one of its major project sites. The “CYA Learning Center (CLC)” is an informal education center with the mission to bring free English education to the children of the Pro Phnom Commune in Kampot Province. With the help of international and local volunteers and one local Cambodian staff we proudly host free English Classes every weekday for four different age groups per day as well as other various activities to help and empower our community.

About the Trip

The idea came from my Co-Volunteer and me. We are both from Germany and spend a total of 11 months in the CLC as Long-Term Volunteers. It has been almost 10 months since we arrived at this project and we have grown quite close to our students. This is our way to say “Thank You”, spend some more fun time together and give them an unforgettable experience.

The trip will take a total of 45 of our students to the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh. For some of them it will be the first time to visit the city. We want to bring them to the most interesting landmarks in Phnom Penh such as the Royal Palace, the Central Market, the Independence Monument and the Riverside Park as well as have guided tours through the Tuol Sleng Genocide (S21) Museum and the National Museum so that they can learn more about the rich history of their own country. We are lucky that our host family at the CLC can provide us with prepared meals, including breakfast and lunch for 2.5$ per person, so we can spare the expense of eating at a restaurant.
