Hi everyone,

As our friends, family and many in our local community would be aware, my handsome but cheeky 5 Year old nephew, Finn O’Donovan was recently diagnosed with (DMD) Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

DMD is a degenerative, fatal disease that affects young boys. 1 in 3500 boys are born with DMD. This disease is so very cruel as the muscles in the body slowly breakdown with most boys becoming wheelchair bound by their late primary school years to early teens. This is often followed by cardiovascular and respiratory difficulties. The life expectancy is in the mid-twenties.

As you can imagine, this has completely shaken the entire family as well as our friends and Finn’s diagnosis has broken his parents hearts. Ross and Rebecca although devastated, have shown nothing but pure strength for their little superhero. I watch them every day in admiration as their positivity is nothing short of inspirational.  They immediately got the ball rolling to give Finn the best years possible before he is severely affected by DMD. They have not asked anyone for help, it's only through the continual concern of all those around us, that we thought it time we try to raise funds for our Finny. Finny is the younger brother of two sisters, Ella 9 and Nia 7, who will also be faced with this tragedy as Finn’s condition worsens.

Finn will need a lot of medical attention in the years to come and he will eventually need full time care. However, our focus at the moment is to provide him with fun filled adventures and life experiences that he’ll never forget. We want him to enjoy life to its fullest while he still can.

Since the devastating news broke, so many of our friends have been asking us how they can help and now we are asking for that help! Ross and Rebecca have begun the process of getting an in-ground pool in their backyard. Swimming is one of the key therapies for DMD sufferers.

We are hoping that everyone can dig a little, small or big it doesn't matter. Every cent will go towards ensuring Finn can have fun filled summers in his new pool swimming right at his backdoor and enjoy the health benefits it will provide for him. Our aim is $50,000 which we hope will cover most of the costs associated with the construction of the pool.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this Go Fund Me page. Let’s all band together to ensure our little super hero Finny can enjoy endless memorable moments in his new pool!

As you can see we are almost there.... the pool will be soon filled.
We are just so very excited. Ross and Rebecca are so humbled and beyond grateful for the love, generosity and support everyone had given them to get this far.
Finny certainly is a fine young man, adored by so many. I can not wait to post a photo of his gorgeous face when he first gets in his pool.
As you can see the pool is amazing, however, there's a few finishing touches around the pool. We don't want the backyard turning into a mudslide. Although that would be fun too....
Ross and Bec are already overwhelmed by the amazing generosity from everyone, however, I think we can get to our goal so we can see the pool and yard completely finished.! So please share and share again if you wouldn't mind.! Let's get to our goal!!!
Thanks everyone. Hopefully we can have a photo of Finn in action this weekend!

Dearest Finny Supporters.

We hope you had a great Christmas and a wonderful start to the New Year.

Over the break the progress on the pool naturally slowed, however, we are back in full swing.

Finny had been doing his hydrotherapy every two weeks and loves it. So we are looking forward to the pool being finished so Finny can get in and practise what he's learnt.

This pool would not have been possible without the support of everyone who has donated to the #finnywillbefine fund. It's all happened so quick and we are blessed to be surrounded by so much love and support.

Could I ask everyone to share the link again and see if we can get closer to our goal.

Also, Save Our Sons have shared a link on their page about some breaking news on a new drug that may be in trial in the next two years. As a friend said, this would be a game changer!!!

Thanks everyone. Much love. The O'Donovans and especially our super hero Finny ❤❤

Some great progress with Finny's pool. Construction is well under way. We wouldn't be at this point without everyone's support. Please share our link again and continue to get the word out there. There's still plenty of work to be done. Again, thanks seems so small for the gratitude we all have for your generosity and support in getting behind Finny.

Hi guys! Remember us??? I saw a FB post back around Mother's Day about Rebecca having a tough time, then noticed all the #finnywillbefine posts. So sorry that your beautiful little boy (and he is absolutely gorgeous!) has to battle this horrible disease. You both seem to be doing. Wonderful job in allowing him to do all the crazy things little boys love to do. Thinking of you all. Carolyn and Angelo xxx
