Provide a Wet Room for Finley

Finley Hesketh 16/2/2015, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) on 13th May 2014. DMD is a progressive muscle wasting disease, which has little treatment, no cure and is 100% fatal.
Finley’s muscles get weaker every day, and as a result our home is becoming increasing unsuitable for his needs. We have managed to self-fund the purchase a bungalow, which has helped Finley enormously already. This is only the first step in improving Finley’s quality of life.
Finley’s current bedroom is too small to enable him to move around in an Electric Wheelchair. Our current bathroom is also unsuitable for his long term needs. Therefore an extension for a larger bedroom and wet room is needed.
Sadly, every attempt to obtain funding for Finley’s extension has failed. The Isle of Man has a very low threshold for means testing funding for children with disabilities. If you earn over £50,000 as a household you do not qualift for any Government funding at all. We also don’t have access to the disabled facilities grant that is available to those in the UK.
Therefore we have set-up a crowdfunding page to enable work on the extension to start. This has been split into blocks. This funding is for the initial block for the Groundworks and Foundations. We have had plans drawn up (coutesy of Andrew Bently) in accordance with Finley's Occupational Therapist and Muscular Dystrophy UK Guidelines.
In order to do this we need your help. We are obviously not asking you to fully fund this extension. We will contribute as much as we are able to but we realistically can’t fund everything ourselves. We have already had the additional expense of purchasing a bungalow with land suitable for the modifications required for a child with Duchenne.
