Help Resistance finish their album
I'm asking you guys to help me fund the last part of my album. Its taken me two years up to this point to write the songs and find the musicians to play allong side me and bring my demos up to where they are now. In making this album I found an amazing vocal talent in the form of Shaun Holton.
I've totaly maxed out all my credit cards trying to finish what I'm sure is a really great album and now I really need your help.
Please take a few minutes and check out the 4 demo songs I have for you to listen to.
Thanks yo the help so far from you guys we now how the studio time booked for Shaun to finish the final vocal tracks on the album! Donations you have made have made this possible and all the money that gets donated goes towards paying for studio time, extra sesion musicians, mix engineers, mastering and the costs involved in getting the album released.
Recording this album has been such a mission. Shaun lives in Australia so its SUPER hard to co ordinate our recording efforts to put together the tracks as you here them. The drummer and bass player Kyle and Theo live accross the country and have done a great job on all the parts I've sent them to record. We sound prety great for a band thats never met eachother right?!
Shaun Holton: Vocals
Shaun is a singer songwriter from Australia who is also know for his personal project Projected Twin.
Kazuki James: Guitaritst/Producer
Kaz is a studio guitarist and audio engineer
Kyle & Theo: Drums & Bass
Kyle and Theo are the masive rythem section of the band Defences.
Recording each song is a long involved prosses that starts with my writing (mostly in my kitchen) and making terrible demos that i send to Kyle and Theo. Once they track the drums and bass i take everything appart again and re track guitar parts and take things away and sometimes change the whole song around untill it sounds the way i want it. Finaly they go over to Shaun in Australia for him to track the vocals.
I've worked for so long and so hard on this album to achieve my goal of being able to musicaly express some of my thoughts and feelings for other people to enjoy. I've met some really amazingly tallented musicians during its production and I'd be so greatfull for the opertunity to finaly finish it and make it a real thing.
Thanks for your help! <3
Kaz here to give you an update on where things are at with the album. It's an email I've really been hoping that I wouldn't have to write. However, at this stage, It's reached the point where I don't have a choice.
Back in May I put out an update having found a mix engineer for the project and asking you guys if you wanted to put some cash towards paying for his time to work on the album and finish the tracks. Through that you guys were amazing and put in a further £135 to the project to go towards paying for his time. I went ahead and hired him. He told me at the time that he expected that the tracks would be finished and signed off by the end of Jully. Dan had done great work on the test track I had sent him and I was super happy to wait. By the end of July he has asked if he could look at handing them in towards the end of August instead. Again, happy to give him an extension if it meant that the tracks would be done to a high standard.
Towards the end of August I had several messages from him saying he would be "getting songs to me very soon" which changed to "Throughout this week" which then changed into apologies for the delays and that he would definitely have songs for me. The songs never arrived and he began returning to not replying to my messages.
After another week of receiving no music back and no replies to my messages saying that I'd received nothing and enquiring if he was having issues transferring files to me I received a text message today telling me that he is no longer interested in working on the album.
Firstly, I'm sorry that things have sat in silence for so long while Dan has wasted my time and your funds. I think it's clear to see from the lack of progress/work in progress mixes he sent me (I didn't hear a single track that he had been supposedly mixing) that he evidently did nothing and had no intention of sending me an albums worth of finished music.
Secondly, I am forever indebted to you all for believing in my music so much that you have helped fund this album. I am determined to get it finished and for you guys to finally get to hear the album you have all waited for so long to hear.
Dan has agreed to pay back the money that you guys put into the GoFundMe project and this money is going to go right back towards the costs of whoever is going to be the final mix engineer for the project. Right now I have yet to find the person that is going to take on the project and finish it but I will keep you up to date with the progress of where that is going. Currently the only other quote I have had was from 80Hz studio in Manchester who were quoting at around £200 per track! This amount if far more than the scope of this record, what I have and what I feel is achievable from crowd funding. I'm going to make enquiries with some other mix engineers I know and trust as well as some friends that own and run their own recording studios.
Once again, Thank you all so so much for you love and support with this project.
More updates from the Resistance as soon as they become available!
