Irene Deity Delgato is a well known New York based performer and talented costumer in our burlesque community.
This fundraiser was created to help Irene with her life expenses, while she is being hospitalized and later rehabilitated.
Life can be super unpredictable and stressful when we are all strong and healthy but what happens when we can't literally stand on our own? We have friends to back us up.
Irene is currently in hospital, unable to work and take care of herself. She is on intravenous antibiotics (read-tubes sticking out of her) while doctors are trying to figure out what is causing her pain.
There were two diagnosis made, one when immune system attacks nerve system, the other -Lyme disease, yet non of these two diagnoses are fit.
The symptoms she was showing were numbness in her fingers, legs, spasms in her limbs, exhaustion and allover lethargy. She can't eat, can't keep food down, anxiety levels are high as well, she sleeps only with sleep aid.
Being a freelancer requires to be in a top shape and we all know the holidays can take it out of you. Add a debilitating pain and an unknown disease - and that is a lot to take for anyone.
Irene will need her mind off of the daily hustle. She won't be able to sew costumes or perform for a while, that means her income is zero. She will need time to recover. She will need $$ to live on, pay her bills, pay for her food and medications.
This is why I, Irena Canova , created this fundraiser and I hope we will back up our sister, friend and burlesque warrior in this time of misfortune.
