Filyo Family Assistance

The Filyo family is in the midst of a major life change that is unimaginable to most. Mike Filyo, husband to Lisa and father to Emily, Andy, Dalton and Kayle, was recently diagnosed with a horrible, incurable disease called Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2). NF2 is a condition that predisposes individuals to produce multiple tumors of the nervous system (brain and spinal cord). He currently has at least 8 tumors (on his brain) and will need open brain surgery soon. The typical time for a hospital stay, following this type of brain surgery, is 1 month and the typical recovery time is 1 year. During this time, Mike will be unable to work and he does not have disability insurance. This is why I am asking for your help…a generous donation, big or small, will be so appreciated so that the Filyos can focus on Mike’s healing and not the mountain of bills headed their way. They are already selling a lot of their possessions so that they can move into a single story home, closer to Lisa’s work, where they can care for Mike more easily. But loosing Mike’s income is going to put a horrible financial strain on the family during a time where they should be able to focus on caring for and loving Mike.
