Firefighter Daniel Roy has been in the Grand Strand as a firefighter with Midway Fire Rescue for a little over 2 years. He has been a great asset to the team on C-Shift and constantly working to make himself and the shift better. For the past year, Firefighter Daniel Roy has been attending paramedic school and in May will be finished. Firefighter Roy is also a member with the Midway Professional Firefighters Association, Local 3617.
On Sunday evening, March 17th, 2019, Daniel Roy's life changed forever. Daniel Roy was involved in a serious motorcycle accident while riding on Highway 17 in Myrtle Beach.
Daniel Roy has a long road ahead for him as he has sustained a lot of trauma with multiple skull fractures and other injuries. He is currently in the ICU at Grand Strand Trauma Center in Myrtle Beach receiving care & treatment. Midway Fire Rescue and Midway Professional Firefighters Association has had crews there since the accident along with friends, family. We have had visits, phone calls and emails from Fire Departments across the state.
He is currently fighting for his life! This journey is not a sprint to the finish line but a marathon. The roller coaster ride continues and we are all here for Daniel Roy on every turn.
We have set a goal to assist the family with expenses that are needed that includes hotels, food (Meals for Mom and Dad) and medical expenses as Daniel Roy's Family is from Georgia. Midway Professional Firefighters Association, Local 3617 will deposit the funds into a Firefighter Daniel Roy account for his family to access at anytime. The organization is a registered 501.C3 through South Carolina and Federal Tax Service.
The situation is ever changing but urgent and we know he will fight. We will fight right beside him through it all.
