Fighting chance for Bruno

Donation protected
Hi everyone!
I’m making this campaign for my dog (my baby) Bruno. Let me just say that I wouldn’t be here making this unless I absolutely needed to.
First, my name is Victoria. I’ve been an animal lover since I was a child and a vegan activist for over two years. The animals are everything to me. I spend my time advocating for those that can’t advocate for themselves. My life is dedicated to the animal rights movement.
Two weeks ago I would’ve never seen this coming. I had a happy pup who tossed around his toy snake and begged for treats scratching at the cabinet. My life flipped upside down fast.
Within a day, Bruno went from being his happy self, to being lethargic, while shaking, not eating, and vomiting. We took him to the vet as an emergency visit. Labs were done and the vet came back saying Bruno had the highest blood sugar levels he’s ever seen (700+) and he had a bad case of diabetes. Bruno had lab work 6 months prior as routine and everything came back normal. This was a surprise to us all and we didn’t know how he wasn’t showing symptoms until it got that bad. He was hospitalized overnight and given fluids, insulin, & other care to stabilize him. The next day he was feeling better, he ate, and he held down his food. So we happily took him home (on July 10th). At this point we already put in $435 for his care, but any amount is worth it for our baby. Sadly, the next day he didn’t want to eat. I got him to eat a little bit by spoon feeding him cat food, but yesterday and today he wanted nothing to do with it. We were told that it would take some time for him to get back on his feet while we figured out his appropriate insulin dose. Though over the next 6 days, he deteriorated and deteriorated fast. This morning (July 16th) he vomited again and convulsed when he laid down. His eyes were bloodshot and he was completely lethargic. We took him back to the vet for an emergency appointment. His blood sugar was still over 700 and he had elevated liver levels. The vet suspects that he may have pancreatic cancer or severe pancreatitis. He is being hospitalized again for at least a few days. The vet said it’s time to “sink or swim”. We will have a good idea of his prognosis when we see if/how he responds to treatment at the hospital. The estimate for this hospital stay is nearing $600 and that is of course just an estimate. If he pulls through, and I have hope that he will, he will need take home medication and to see the vet once a week for his blood sugar to be monitored. My main priority is his wellness and I don’t want money to limit the care he can receive. I want to give Bruno the best fighting chance he’s got, at any cost. If you could spare anything, even 50¢, we would be so grateful. Bruno is only 10 and I can’t bear to see the rest of his life robbed from him. Like all animals, Bruno deserves a fighting chance. If you can/if you would like to donate directly to his bill at the vet, he is staying at Barnegat Animal Clinic in Barnegat NJ until at least Wednesday. His file is under Deborah Downey.
