Hey my name is Lorraine. Some of you may already know my story but I wanted to give the short version as well as an update.

First, thank you to everyone who took the time to donate when this gofundme page was created to provide some financial assistance for me.

Here is the past... I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in March of 2015. After months of not being diagnosed while I was avidly searching for answers for some back pain, I continued pushing for real answers and I ended up at the BC Cancer agency. Shortly after the whirlwind started I found myself in Vancouver laying on the hard bed of PET scan machine. Results followed two weeks later revealing that the cancer cells had ventured away from the primary source and were in the lymph nodes. Devastated but ready to make shit happen to rid my body of the cancer I started receiving chemotherapy drugs (Paclitaxel, Carboplatin and Bevacizumab) every 21 days. After months of this I then had 25 daily external radiation treatments and 5 brachytherapy treatments along with a weekly dose of the chemotherapy drug Cisplatin. My body was not in a good place. With my body being put through the ringer and side effects in full force I landed myself a two week stay at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital.

Leaving there and looking forward to a break from the circus, I carried on. Waiting for a follow up scan date in approximately three months time. It ended up that my period of recovery would be a very short break from it all.

Christmas Eve I felt enlarged lymph nodes. My heart sank. With it being the holidays I waited a few days and called my oncologist.

At the end of January I was put on a chemo drug called, Pemetrexed. Pemetrexed is used for lung cancer. While receiving this drug I grew a lump. A lump I was told could be scar tissue, an abscess or anything else. It got bigger, I asked to be brought in earlier and this didn't happen. It was then too big for surgery at this point so 15 external radiations and 1 brachytherapy were scheduled.

With all the frustrations I had going on I was directed to another oncologist. I went to my first appointment and the ball got rolling on some things that I believe should have been done the year prior. After a biopsy and a deeper look at the cancer cells, the tests came up with some scientific evidence that my cancer cells have a similarity to a kidney cancer. With these results and the guidance of my new oncologist an application for drug approval was submitted. The drug requested is for Afinitor. A drug used to treat certain kidney cancers that came up as a match from the recent testing.

This brings me to now... This request has been denied.

The process was throughly explained to me. The possibility of this being the outcome also explained to me. Therefore, not entirely shocked but extremely disappointed.

Although a active healthy fitness instructor previous to this life altering chapter, I have since improved my diet, added a variety of supplements and sought out the treatments offered by a naturopathic doctor. None of which are cheap.

My life savings dwindling as I continue to fight this fight, pay the rent and pay for IVC treatments etc.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I have fought hard and will not stop fighting but in order to do this I need help.

I am a single mother of an amazing 6 year old that has a shotgun seat on this journey and is doing great despite all the shit we have endured.

I currently go for IVC treatments three times a week and take supplements that all aid in supporting my immune system as the cancer advances.

My current medical team is looking into ANY other options that exist out there. I fear that everything will be out of reach due to location and/or cost.

At this point I am just trying to continue what I have going on with naturopathic treatments and taking care of my daughter and myself.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated and very helpful.
