Fight For Kathleen

Donation protected
Kathleen has been a friend of mine for more than 15 years. It’s a little unnerving to share the following story, but I’ve witnessed Kathleen’s faith and strength through helping people, both locally and internationally, and now battling for her health. This compels me to ask you for help.

Kathleen readily aids any person she meets. She’s currently working for All Nations Family missions organization, and spends her free time empowering children, youth, and families in Kansas City, to advocate for education and opportunity for the underserved. Filled with compassion, she jumps at any opportunity to serve and encourage.

Two years ago, Kathleen’s life of service was put on hold after what looked like a sudden illness. After nearly three months of extreme illness and numerous doctors’ appointments, an MRI uncovered a brain tumor the size of a baseball. She was quickly admitted to the hospital at KU Medical Center, where the brain tumor was removed in surgery. During the months of recovery that followed, Kathleen was slowly able to resume work and her life of service. She had amassed many medical bills, but was quiet about them and never publicly requested aid from others. Instead, Kathleen launched a #PracticeGratitude campaign to encourage others to find joy in the midst of difficult times.

However, two months ago, during a routine follow-up appointment, her doctors discovered that not only had her tumor grown, but it now required more aggressive treatment. After seeking a second opinion at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, doctors from both MD Anderson and KU Med Center were in consensus, that not only is another brain surgery in order, but it must be followed up by six weeks of Radiation and Chemo treatment concurrently, with then an additional year of Chemotherapy. The surgery is scheduled for Monday, October 3rd. While she approaches this with faith and confidence, there are still looming issues.

With the new medical treatment required, as well as previous bills and care, Kathleen and her family will be challenged in offsetting the high cost of long-term care during her medical leave from work and recovery. Your donation of any amount, whether $1000, $500, $100, or even $10, will go directly to Kathleen and her family for use toward medical expenses and aid. Kathleen’s a kind and caring person who hasn’t asked for help, instead choosing to serve. We’re launching this campaign to serve someone who loves others so well. Just as she will #PracticeGratitude in this season, we hope to #PracticeGratitude and #FightForKathleen!

In addition to your generous contribution, please also pray for Kathleen and her family, and do take a moment to share this campaign.
