Fight Cancer with Janell & her girls!

Donation protected
Imagine, you are a newly single Mom in Australia trying to create a new life for you and your little girls.  You buy a new house and move all of your things hours away, the girls have a new school, you work two jobs to try to make ends meet and even Airbnb the new place to make sure you can make the mortgage.  You have things precariously balanced and life finally seems to be getting good.  Then suddenly, you are diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer, are facing months of treatment and everything is at risk.

This is Janell’s new reality…

What is happening

A few weeks ago, Janell was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. Although, the doctors and surgeons consider this cancer treatable. Janell is scheduled for a minimum of 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation with weeks, if not months, of recovery. This treatment can only be done at a hospital far from home, which means not only can she not work, but she will not be around to take her daughters to school, pick them up, or be part of their everyday lives.

Janell is also 8,500 miles from her family and main support system and cannot leave the country due to custody arrangements.

What kind of support do Janell and the girls have

During Janell’s treatment, her mom is flying in to take care of the girls, but has never driven in Australia, and won’t have access to a car. Janell’s sister, Amanda, is flying in and out a couple of times to be with Janell for the beginning and end of her 6-week treatment and Beth, one of Janell’s other sisters will be flying in to support Janell and the girls when treatment is complete.

Janell is stressed, as you can imagine, and is trying to figure out how she will pay her bills while not working. She plans to sign the girls up for a bus service to take them to and from school, but of course that is an additional expense.

Moreover, Janell is scared by this unexpected, drastic change in her health. It seems unfathomable that an active, healthy 33 year old would be diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. But we all know cancer doesn’t adhere to any “rules.”

Janell is fighting to stay hopeful and positive; needless to say, she desperately wants to continue living and raising her daughters.

How can you help

Please join us in supporting Janell by praying, and sending positive thoughts and energy her way.  There are also specific expenses that we could help cover that would ease the burden while Janell isn’t able to work.

·       Gas / Petrol for the 3+ hour car trips every weekend

·       Next term uniforms for the girls

·       School bus fees

·       Food and groceries for Janell’s Mom, the girls and Janell during treatment

·       Utilities (gas, electric, phone, etc) for the house

·       Household expenses (Airbnb has to be on hold during this time)

If you are in a position to support in a monetary fashion to help support this unforeseen need, please donate through this account or share with your friends on Facebook to help support Janell.

Janell has struggled to figure out a way to communicate this devastating news and the hardship that comes with it. We are thankful she gave us permission to reach out to you all in this way.
