Update: A Note from Catherine & Johanna
Thank you all so much for your amazing love and support. We are honestly blown away by how many of you have donated and continue to share this fund on social media. We feel your love and prayers, and we hope you'll keep them coming! Not much has changed in our family's condition but we continue to pray and have faith in their recovery. Please keep praying and sharing! We feel your support and words truly can't express how deeply we appreciate it.
-----
On August 16th, my aunt Wendy, uncle Jose, cousin Joe, and grandma were in a tragic car accident while vacationing in the Dominican Republic. That car accident has led to the loss of my grandmother and the others left fighting for their lives in critical condition. In just two days, they have had at least 10 surgeries between the 3 of them. It's taking an even larger toll on my aunt because she has Lupus, an autoimmune disease which makes recovery even harder. To make matters worse, my 16-year-old cousin is in a coma, undergoing several surgeries due to internal bleeding and spinal injuries. Given they were in a foreign country at the time of the accident, their insurance only covers a portion of their medical costs and we are hoping to raise funds to relieve some of the financial burden and possibly finance emergency transportation to bring them back home to continue their care here in the United States.

Any amount and all prayers make a difference! Our family appreciates anything you can give.

Thank you and God bless!

Hello everyone, Wendy here. I wanted to post one final message to personally thank you all for your kind and generous donations. You made possible our transport from the DR to Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital in NYC - where we received the best medical care - and for that we are eternally grateful. I also want to thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. God bless you all!

Joe and I are both home now ready to continue our rehabilitation and start this new life that God has granted us, as we honor and remember mom.

Lots of love,
Fernandez Family

Mucho amor,
Familia Fernández

Quick update: We're very happy to report that Wendy has been transferred to rehab. She's making progress and so is Joe. Thank you for your continued prayers ❤️

Hi everyone, we've received some inquiries about how Wendy and Joe are doing. We're happy to report that they're making progress. Baby steps, but progress nevertheless. Thank you all for your continued prayers.

Wendy is eating more and sitting up for several hours at a time, but she had a minor setback yesterday. An X-ray confirmed she has a fracture on her left index finger. Since it wasn't treated on time, she'll have to have surgery (scheduled for Thursday). Doctors were hoping to transfer her to an in-patient rehab facility this week, but the surgery will delay that for now.

Joe has been experiencing a lot of pain. His spirits are low right now and he's not motivated to eat or speak much. We hope that his appetite will return so that he can get strong enough to get out of bed and sit on a chair, like his mom.

Thank you all and God bless you!

May you all be blessed with health and abundance.
