This is our dad. He is 58 years old, diabetic, and has a kidney transplant from 15 years ago. He's silly, charismatic, and loves to make people laugh.
He was recently diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic adenocarcinoma. His doctor says his cancer is very aggressive and is spreading rapidly. In January 2015, doctors discovered that his cancer had created a severe compression fracture in his lower vertebrae, which was causing him chronic back pain .
In February 2015, dad began his radiation and chemotherapy treatments. The early stages of treatment seemed promising until he developed a rare infection in his jaw as a side effect of his chemotherapy. Now he must undergo additional treatment to prevent furthur damage to his jaw bone before he can continue with his chemo. Because he is a kidney transplant patient, precautions must be made and other specialists must be involved. He currently has a team of about 6 different physicians who are dedicated to providing the best care possible for him. In addition to these 6, he is now being referred to 2 additional specialists.
In the past few months, our family has done the best we could to stay on top of the unexpected medical expenses that have come our way. However, with the appearance of new complications and the need for ongoing treatment, these expenses have far exceeded our family's ability to keep up with our dad's cost of healthcare.
This gofundme page is not for any purpose other than to help him get the proper care he needs without him having to worry about the extra expenses that come along with it.
We are hoping to raise enough money to alleviate a portion of our dad's out of pocket expenses, with the help of those around us who are willing and wanting to support! We are not looking for donations, rather contributions to our dad's fight against cancer!
Our dad is facing the biggest challenge of his life yet, but we have faith that he will see it through! We are determined and committed to doing everything in our power to ensure that our dad has a fighting chance.
