Fenton Family Hardship Fund

My name is Kyle Fenton.

Seven years ago, I began the adventure of raising a family with my best friend. My wife Colleen and I had a son in the spring of 2010, and that is where the Fenton Family began.  We have always been a family of modest means, but that has never been an issue as our family is full of love and at the end of the day, that is all we need. in 2012 we welcomed a darling baby girl into our lives, and our family was complete. Our children, Silas and Scarlette are ages 7 and 4 respectively, and thankfully are happy healthy kids that bring constant life and light to our hearts.

Like any young family, we by no means have been without our problems. Living paycheck to paycheck, doing the best we can. Somehow we've always managed to get by.

As of the last few years however, our family has been plagued by health issues affecting my wife Colleen. In 2014 she began to develop digestive issues that doctors couldn't seem to figure out. After seeing multiple doctors and specialists over the course of almost two years, the situation culminated in an ER visit and an emergency gallbladder removal.  Her surgery took place at the end of 2016 and the recovery process began. At the beginning of April 2017 however, just as we began to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we were faced with disaster once again.

A routine visit to an urgent care clinic to obtain a work release for a simple stomach bug turned into a situation that we can not get past on our own. After diagnosing a common stomach bug, the physician assistant suggested an intramuscular injection for controlling nausea. As soon as the needle entered my wife, it became clear that we  weren't going to be out of the woods any time soon.

The injection performed by the urgent care clinic caused damage to her nerves, leaving her with extreme pain and loss of function in her left leg and foot. After re-visiting the clinic, we were told they couldn't do anything more to help her. A primary care appointment was scheduled, and our doctor has placed her on medication to try and control the pain, to no avail. An appointment with a neurologist is currently set for June 16th, 2017. We are trying to remain hopeful that this situation can be resolved, but the outlook for a full recovery isn't looking good. No medical professional has been able to give us a definitive answer on whether the nerve damage caused by the injection will be repairable or not.

We are currently looking at the very real potential that she may be beginning on a very long, very bumpy road to recovery. Unable to work, unable to take part in simple activity without enduring excruciating pain. Through all of our hardship our family has fallen far behind financially. And faced with the prospect of reduced family income, increased medical bills and insurance costs we are in a place where we have no other option but to reach out for help.

I've started this page as an attempt to raise funds so that our family can band together and tackle these problems head on. We have a long road ahead of us, and we will not be able to go it alone.

Any and all donations received through this campaign will go directly toward...

-Past due utility bills
-Outstanding medical expenses
-Future medical expenses incurred as we address the extent of her nerve damage
-Relieving financial pressure caused by lost wages, so we can focus on getting our beloved wife and mother better.

I thank you for taking the time to read our story. Any donations help, no matter the amount. Please consider helping our family get back on our feet, so that we may provide a solid foundation for my wife Colleen to get back on hers.
