Fella's Eye Surgery

Donation protected
Hi everyone! As you may know I have a cat named Fella (he's all I talk about!!) and he is suffering from feline entropion in his left eye. This means his bottom eyelid is inverting and causing his bottom lashes to rub against his eye, causing scratches, ulcers and a LOT of pain. The only fix to this is a surgery to flip his eyelid back out and allow him to live and blink pain-free. If he does not get the surgery done, his eyelid will continuously rub and scratch is cornea. This causes ulcers and scratches to appear on his eye which will cause him to lose all of his sight in that eye and create horrible infections. Because he is already so old, if he ends up catching an infection, his body would not be strong enough to fight it and he would need to be euthanized. I CANNOT let that happen.  The surgery is very expensive, but he is my best friend and I want him to live as long and as pain-free as possible. Any extra donations will be towards making sure Fella has a comfy and safe recovery including yummy snacks, comfy beds, and catnip!! If any complications arise, the money will be put aside or another animal in need.

Here is our story:

Fella has been my best best friend since I was 4 years old.

I am now taking care of him by myself and he is almost 14 years old.

He has had no complications until recently due to his old age and is experiencing extreme discomfort. He has entropion, which causes a lot of pain in his eye, and also deals with extreme constipation(which is way more serious than what humans deal with) His painful eye makes him want to scratch and rub at it all day, which is preventing him from eating, drinking, sleeping comfortably, and acting like his normal lovable self.

Over the passed year his eye has been swelling and has constantly been filled with goo. I tried bringing him to multiple different vets, who all gave me eye ointments, creams, gels, drops.. all to no avail. I finally went to Warwick Animal Hospital and was prescribed a steroid based eye drop to help the swelling. We assumed his eyelid was looking like that because of the swelling, and would hopefully flip back out once the swelling stopped. Turns out, the swelling was CAUSED by the eyelid flipping inside, not the other way around as we thought.

He now needs a surgery to flip his eyelid back out, which will stop his lashes from rubbing against his eye and allow him to blink pain-free.

With constant check-ups, blood works, eye examinations, and all of these medications that have not worked, I have spent way over the amount I had saved up for him, and ALL of my money was saved up for him. As many of you may know the vet is VERY expensive which makes it difficult for many low-income pet owners to properly care for their pets medical needs. The money will help me cover all of his medical bills(This includes, all eye testing, blood work, physical check-ups, anesthesia, the surgery, the after-care, and any other treatments needed.) and allow me to continue caring for him with his dietary needs(he's a chubby boy!)

I have tried to reach out to many organizations and shelters, but their money is usually put towards animals who are in URGENT care such as being hit by a car, or any extreme near-death emergency. Fella's situation is urgent, but not near-death at the moment.

In easier words, I am unable to receive support unless he was on the verge of death, which will end up happening if I don't get him an appointment towards his surgery soon.

He is my best friend, and I have been putting every effort and penny into finding him the best and most caring vet in Rhode Island, I just need a little support now. Thank you so much.

Fella is 14 years old. He is a grey tabby with white mittens. He LOVES every single person and EVERY animal he ever meets. He was great with my pet chinchilla daisy, any cat he met and any dog he met.

Gypsy was his best friend. When we brought him home as a kitten we already had our 2 year old calico cat gypsy. She passed away October 2017 from stomach cancer.

He has to wear a cone to prevent him from scratching and rubbing his eye. When he rubs his eye he increases the chances of creating more scratches and ulcers which could cause him to go blind or lose almost ALL of his sight.

Thank you again for any support you give. He is my best best friend and I have had him my entire life, it is a horrible feeling watching him toss and turn all night and not being able to eat.

Hey guys!! If donations end up going passed our goal, all of it will go towards Fella's after care. Nutritious food, fun toys, catnip, comfy beds.. etc thanks so much.
