Michael Joe Burns Jr Memorial Fund

"If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else." - Booker T Washington

When the 20th person asked me what they could do to help the Michael Burns Jr family from so far away, my mind went to gofundme. These funds will be used for getting through this unpredictable, transitional time.

This verse has become the verse of the week. It has appeared (divinely placed, no doubt) numerous times to various family members and friends this week. "Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” Isaiah 6:8

You can prepare for the future, but you cannot expect the unexpected. That's why it's called the unexpected. The transition to widow will not be easy for Amanda. She finally found her one true love and he loved her back with the same fervor. He was as enamored with her kids as much as his own. "Yours, mine and ours" never existed. They were one big family and that won't change.  Michael leaves 7 girls and 1 new baby boy. So many lives were touched and so many tears are falling.

For two extraordinary medical professionals to struggle watching the list of pneumonia complications grow and grow and grow and medical science fail you after you have served it so well, 24/7, practically being married to it, giving your all for it, saving so many others, is a FRUSTRATING and heartbreaking betrayal. Their one comfort is the knowledge that our borrowed bodies are temporary. God heals in his own mighty way and in his own time. His way is perfect and omniscient, even when our doubt seems just as big. Even when we did not get the answer that we begged for.
" Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

There have been so many great Facebook comments and stories. Please keep them coming. They will be printed so that Michael Joe Burns III can know his Dad's legacy and so that the girls will not forget it. One particularly great comment was by Sean Ryan.....

Sir,
On multiple occasions you taught myself and others exactly what it meant to be a Combat Medic. Your dedication to health care, your Soldiers, and your family was something that can never be replaced or replicated.

I have a thousand words trapped within my mind that make it impossible to formulate into anything worthy enough to express how I and the rest of the Medics felt about you.

Instead, I’ll share a memory that I have.

Before you left 3/89, the Platoon all came together near the back of our CP. You stood in the middle of a circle, surrounded by us while you expressed how glad you were to have worked with and gotten to know each one of us. The last thing you did was come to Attention and saluted us and then we in turn saluted you.

That has always stuck with me and always will. No one will ever replace you.

The one, the only, GDPA.

The celebration of Michael Joe Burns Jr.'s life will be on Friday, August 16th. Visitation will be from 9 am- 11 am with the service following at 11 am. Visitation, services, and interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church 2305 Pleasant Hill Dr SE Bogue Chitto, MS 39629

PLEASE: All military are invited to bring stickers, patches or pins to place with Michael when he is laid to rest.

And for those who knew the love Michael had for his Crocs or concert shirts..we encourage you to wear them if you have them.

Thank you for the continued prayers for our family.
