Surgery for Jake

Here's Jake's story. I met Jake back in June of 2018 in a cramped little cage and instantly fell in love. So I asked more about him, it turns out Jake was abandoned on the streets in Alabama when he wasn't even six weeks old. When I met him he had spent his entire life (5 months at that point) stuck in a cage and transferred between multiple different facilities until he was finally placed with Fox Valley Humane Society. After further inquiry with the Fox Valley Humane Society, they told me that he had a clean bill of health and gave me the paperwork to back their claims. Well, I shouldn't have taken their word for it and had him evaluated from someone outside their facility because Jake in fact had a serious medical condition they failed to inform me about. Jake's kneecap was dislocated and they left him like that for God knows how long. As soon as I adopted Jake he had a limp on his back leg, and I immediately contacted FVHS to inquire about the limp and reviewed his medical records and there was no record of injury or defect he could have been born with. So I just contributed his limp to muscular atrophy and degeneration from being caged for so long without exercise. While I waited to see progress with his limp it never got better. This past Saturday I took him to the vet for xrays and found the cause of the limp, one of the most severe cases of a patella dislocation the doctor had seen and it was the worst case scenario.  Jake has to be referred to a specialty surgeon in Green Bay and has to have extensive surgery to fix this. The initial quote is $3200 but who knows how much the total will come to with follow-up visits and medication. So I'm doing the next drastic step, asking all my friends and family to please help me in raising any possible funds to try and offset the costs of the immediate surgery.
