K9 Takoda’s medical expenses

$1,375 of $4,000 goal

Raised by 31 people in 27 days
I have had a lot of people message me, wondering who is supporting the k9's now, and why is there no funds.

The k9s were initially funded from Mendocino Public Safety Foundation. Monies from Asset Forfeiture has since been funding training, medical bills, and other expenses as they come up, but that money is drying up as a source.
Fort Bragg Feed donates all of the food for K9 Takoda.
As of now, there is no budget in the city for the Fort Bragg Police Dept K9's.
We, the Fort Bragg K9 Foundation are here to help in any way we can. We are a 501(3)c foundation.

UPDATE on K9 Takoda:
On Friday, he was seen in Santa Rosa by Dr Talcott. After a full hour consultation, Dr Talcott suggested taking a conservative approach, rather than jumping right into surgery. He feels that Takoda can benefit from a 12 week rehab, with a vest he will wear 24 hr a day. He is hoping after the 12 weeks of a very intensive rehab, surgery will be off the agenda, but we will have to see how he heals.

Training:

K-9 Takoda was brought over to the United States from Central Europe in 2015 by his trainer Chip Johnson. Chip knew from the first time meeting Takoda that he would be a great asset to the Fort Bragg Police Department.
K-9 Takoda and Officer McGregor train together daily. The two also train together with K-9 Maverick, who is with FBPD, along with several handlers from Mendocino County Sherriff's Department 2 times a month, with their trainer Chip Johnson.
At training, they concentrate on apprehension, drug sniffs, officer safety, building searches, and tracking.
Training is very important for the k9's and their handlers to prepare them for whatever comes their way on the street.
