I am Amelia and this is my story:

Have you seen my picture yet?  If you have then you’ve noticed that I have beautiful emerald green eyes, but they are sad and worried right now.  I may not be able to show them soon without your help.

My name is Amelia and my life began as a stray.  I was just a little kitten, lost and very frightened when a nice man coaxed me out of the wooded lot that I was hiding in.  He took me into his house and raised me to be the gentle and sweet kitty that I am today but I never ever was taken to the vet.   He was a kind man, who stayed home mostly, and moved a lot.  Sometimes we were living alone in an apartment, other times we lived with other people.  I liked being with him, cuddling up, purring, being pet and playing with my toys.  It was fine until he moved to a trailer home with his girlfriend; it was then that he changed.  They both drank some funny smelling stuff (beer) all day, every day, and they smoked stuff too.  They were yelling and swearing at each other, especially when they were wobbly on their feet and slurring their words.  I was really scared and would hide.  Finally one day my owner started packing his things as he was moving out but he couldn't take me with him.  This was a very sad and stressful time for him and I was so afraid of what was going to happen to me.  I felt very lost and my heart was broken.

The next day I came to Pet Patrol.  Everyone was so nice to me and I didn't worry any more. It was calm, quiet and comfortable.  I was in heaven.  But a few days later I wasn't feeling very well.  I stopped eating, my tummy was swollen and hard and my insides felt like they were going to burst. I was rushed to the veterinarian and they took x-rays right away.  They said I have something called Pyrometria (infection in the uterus), and if I don't get surgery it could rupture and I will die. *Sniff*  They said it is because I had never been spayed.  Oh my!  Who knew!

So here I am, my life has completely changed, I have a chance to find true happiness and love with new people (that don't smell like beer and yell all the time), and now I am told I might die?  I know that Pet Patrol will do everything they can to take care of me; but without surgery I will be a goner.  If I was with my old owner, I would not have this chance.  He would not have taken me to the vet because it would cost money, and I was not something to spend money on.

Having no other choice I was taken into the operating room and had emergency surgery to remove my inflamed uterus.  This saved my life.  Fate has stepped in and brought me to Pet Patrol and with your generous donations they can cover the unexpected cost of my surgery and I can keep on being the best kitty ever. Thank you Pet Patrol for putting me first.  Thank you kind person for listening to me, and if I could say thank-you I would rub my head into your hand, and purr like there was no tomorrow.
