FASHO BAND

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lee Howard and I am a tap dancer.  Within my twenty-eight years of life, I have devoted eighteen of those years to studying, training, creating, teaching, and performing tap dance with some of the most talented people I have ever met. I am truly blessed and humbled to not only have found my raison d’être, but to have also had the opportunity to travel the world, meet people of different cultures, and make a living while sharing and expressing myself through my passion for tap dance and music. And from my experiences so far, I can safely say that despite tap’s lack of visibility and selective relevance in the commercial world, the tap world is thriving and very well. And as the world continues to evolve, my life-long ambition is to increase tap’s visibility worldwide and to help people understand what tap dance is really about and how relatable it can be. For those reasons I am putting together a band, called FASHO (Focus And Stay Humble Overall).

A wise hoofer by the name of Ted Louis Levy once said, “The language of music is rhythm. And rhythm is the language of life.” The beauty of watching tap dance is that you are witnessing rhythm in motion, music personified, the sound with the picture. Class acts like Bill Robinson, John Bubbles, Coles and Atkins, the Nicholas Brothers, Jimmy Slyde, Bunny Briggs, Buster Brown, Lon Chaney, Chuck Green, Baby Laurence, Steve Condos, and Gregory Hines (the list goes on and on) were all amazing to WATCH, but they were also amazing to HEAR as well. I want to use FASHO to open your eyes, sharpen your ears, and free your minds! With original tunes and choreography, FASHO will be a performance NO ONE has ever seen before! Any preconceived notions about what tap dance is, FASHO will take those ideas and flip them on their heads! I want the average concertgoer who buys a $200 ticket to see their favorite band playing at the Staples Center to be just as excited to come see FASHO. I want tap dance to be nominated not just for Tony Awards but also for Grammys. I want to transport tap dance from the Broadway theater stage in New York City to the Palladium on Sunset in Los Angeles. This can all happen with YOUR help!!!

This summer, July 23, 2017, myself along with two other amazing tap dancers and three fantastic musicians will be premiering FASHO at the Karoondinha Music & Arts Festival in Centre Hall, Pennsylvania (http://karoondinha.com) Headliners include The Roots, John Legend, ODESZA, CHROMEO and more! This is an amazing opportunity for tap dance to really shine, but in order for this to happen everything from sound equipment and tech, wood floor set-up, lighting, rehearsals, studio time, travel, and artist fees must be accounted for. I myself will not be taking an artist fee for this performance, but I would like to be able to compensate the other members devoting their time and talents to this passion project, as well as make their trip to the east coast as fruitful and accommodating as possible. Below is a brief outline of the expenditures necessary to make this performance a grand slam! I will be working hard to cover as much of these expenses out of my own pocket because I really believe in what FASHO can bring to the forefront. Any donations are VERY MUCH appreciated and will go towards funding this particular performance as well as any future band exploits.  I love you all and thank you for taking the time to read and donate! Please share this with your friends! I really want to do something INCREDIBLE for the dance and with your help the end result will be that much more AMAZING! Peace and blessings!
