Farewell to Perry's Kidney
Perry has a very naughty kidney and it must go.
Many of you know Perry Jones as the sassy and... forthright presence behind the counter at Illusive Comics. He's funny, he's sarcastic, he does not suffer fools gladly, he always knows which comics you'll want, and did we mention sassy? He's also a loving husband, a supporter of the Arts, and a hilarious person to play games with.
A week ago, Perry went to the hospital for a kidney stone. They did some blood tests and a CT scan late last week. Tuesday the doctor advised him that one of his kidneys has a 7mm cancerous mass and therefore must be removed, tout suite! (That's French for Now.)
Surgery is scheduled for July 18th.
Right now the hope is that the kidney removal is all the treatment he'll need for the cancer. There is no cure for sass.
Perry is the General Manager at my company and gets the benefits of the excellent health plan we have. However, he will need to pay at least $1000 for his hospital co-pay stay and medical tests and scans. Furthermore, we can only afford one week of paid leave, but Perry will need a minimum of 2-4 weeks recovery time.
We're raising funds to cover his medical co-pays and the lost wages for his weeks of recuperation. This is Silicon Valley and few people here have the savings for this kind of emergency.
