Fanna Loum Memorial School is a large mixed Nursery and Lower Basic School in Farato The Gambia that prides itself not only on academic success but also on creating a school ethos with relationships and community at its heart. The school accommodates over two hundred children within the community. The School entirely relies on membership’s fees & subscription fees and in-kind donations from the local community. The school currently operate on a tight budget with limited funds and it entirely relies on well-wishers especially the local communities for its day to day running’s.
However, the School has recently been going through a lot of challenges in it's up keeping both logistically and infrastructure wise. The school was also built on a land owned by a member of the local community, who currently is requesting the land back and has already started a foundation to build a house.
The School has, therefore, team up with the Gambia High School Family Class of 1994/2000 Afternoon Shift, in which the founder of the school is an active member, to help raise funds in order to aid the needed renovations and up keeping. We will now be fundraising for the school to help provide them with good classroom structures, clean toilet facilities, classroom furnitures and teaching resources that can hopefully make a difference to the young children. As part of this, we actively encourage all Gambians and non Gambians to get involved in the fundraising activity both locally and internationally.
